The busiest months fill first, especially weekends and after-hours appointments.

Every gown has its own little bead container, because it’s only a matter of time before we find beads on the floor.

These dresses are unpicked, turned inside out, upside down, pulled through, and handled repeatedly throughout the alteration process, so it’s completely reasonable to expect a few beads to come loose along the way.

What’s not reasonable? Returning a gown without sewing every single one back on.

Thankfully, I have a very sharp-eyed daughter who loves hunting for runaway beads, and at the end of each alteration, I carefully sew every one of them back where it belongs. ✨

It’s one of those tiny details most brides will never notice—but that’s exactly how it should be.

I was recently asked by a bride:
“What didn’t go to plan on your wedding day?”

Looking back, only two things come to mind, both of which we laugh about now.

1. Our cake 🎂

Call it miscommunication, call it inexperience… who knows.

But it definitely wasn’t what we ordered.

Our poor uncles ended up doing a last minute emergency cake rescue with nothing but chocolate fingers and multi-coloured M&Ms on hand.

And yes - the dinosaur was part of the original plan… but it somehow added to the “5th birthday party cake” look we definitely weren’t going for.

We can laugh about it now… but at the time it was one of those wait… is this really our wedding cake? moments.

2. The wind 🌬️

One of those things you just can’t control.

In true Wellington fashion, we got a strong southerly that fully took over my veil during photos. Let’s just say… the veil was the real star of the show.

Looking back though, those are the only two things that didn’t go to plan. And even then… they’re just stories now.

The day itself is remembered for everything that did go right and in the end, the little hiccups are just part of the story that made the day ours.

This gown’s dramatic ruffled skirt creates two completely different looks. Unbustled, it’s all about the full, flowing train. Bustled, the details of the skirt take centre stage and make it so much easier to move, mingle and dance the night away.

I’m team “both” — the ceremony look and the reception look! 🤍

One week in the studio and honestly… I wasn’t prepared for how busy it would be already 🥹

Thank you to every person who has booked, shared my page, recommended me, trusted me with your garments, or simply stopped by to say hi. It’s been a week full of fittings, hems, ball gowns, sewing late into the evening, and learning as I go — and I’m so grateful for it all.

I’ve got so many exciting things planned for this space and it already feels very special ✨
