He Korowai o Te Hono ki te Whenua

This beautiful korowai kākahu features a traditional black and white Pātiki tāniko band, representing abundance, prosperity and the strength of whānau. Adorned with one row of white feathers and two rows of black feathers, the colours gradually blend into natural brown tones, creating a stunning earthy finish.

Inspired by Te Ao Tūroa, the natural world, the blending of colours reflects our connection to the whenua, ngā wao, ngā awa, and all living things. The natural brown tones symbolise growth, resilience, and the enduring relationship between people and the environment.

Handmade in Aotearoa with care and cultural significance, this korowai is a meaningful taonga that honours tradition while celebrating identity, whakapapa, and belonging.

I was so lucky to receive this video of them opening their Korowai, and seeing their excitement, smiles and happiness was honestly so special. ✨
I put so much aroha into every Korowai I make, so being able to see the joy they bring to the tamariki makes it all so worthwhile. 💚

Jade Pounamu Korowai Kākahu Half Length 🩵

This Korowai Kākahu with jade, turquoise and white tones holds deep meaning. Jade (pounamu) symbolises strength, endurance and a close connection to the land. It's a precious stone in Māori culture, representing both physical and spiritual resilience. Turquoise brings to mind the calm and healing power of water, symbolising peace, balance and harmony.

White represents purity, new beginnings, and clarity, reflecting wisdom and spiritual growth. Together, these colours represent a balance of strength, healing, and clarity.

He Korowai o Tāne Mahuta 💚

This design representing Tane Mahuta, the god of the forest, incorporates a row of white feathers at the top, symbolising harmony and balance within nature. These feathers stand for purity, peace, and the delicate equilibrium of the forest.

All throughout the Kākahu , a green emerald is featured signifying Tane Mahuta’s deep connection to the earth and the natural world.

The emerald’s vibrant green tone reflects the richness and life-sustaining energy of the forest, embodying Tane Mahuta’s role in nurturing the land and all living things.

This korowai kākahu uses maroon and natural striped feathers, handmade for a Tane/Male. This piece is made with aroha, manaaki and wairua, embodying love, care and spirit. The Taniko band represents prosperity, good luck and favourable times using the Pātiki (flounder) design. This month has been, by far, the busiest month for my small business! I'm so grateful for all of your support, orders, and aroha. Every korowai is made by me, and I truly appreciate your patience while I create each taonga with care.
