One Sunday morning a little while ago, I stumbled across Sophie Burton Hishon’s Substack, Golden State, and promptly read through her entire archives in one sitting (in bed, with my coffee, mind you).⁠

What struck me was her way of talking about wellness and nourishment that felt so full of vitality, joy and sensuality. I felt compelled to learn more about Sophie and her approach to her work, so invited her for an interview for Notes on Sensuality. ⁠

I first met Hannah in 2022 after she had just opened Sully’s, and invited her to our (then) showroom on Courtney Place. She showed up with coffee and a treat, and our friendship was sealed. Her store is a veritable oasis of independent fashion in Wellington, stocking some of our favourite local and international brands plus pre loved pieces from our city’s best dressed—we are SO lucky to have her joy + creative vision in the capital.⁠
