MISTER MODEL INTERNATIONAL PHILIPPINES

“Lubi”

From the vibrant heart of Calubian, Leyte, Philippines rises a celebration of life, resilience, and bounty — the Lubi-Lubi Festival! Held every August, this grand festivity pays homage to the mighty lubi, or coconut — the tree of life that sustains and inspires the Calubianons. With every beat of the drum and every swirl of coconut-crafted costume, the festival bursts into a kaleidoscope of color, rhythm, and tradition — a tribute to the spirit of a people rooted in nature, culture, and pride!

Jake steps forward adorned in a costume inspired by this beloved festival — a striking ensemble made from coconut fibers, shells, and woven leaves, symbolizing the strength, creativity, and cultural richness of Calubian. He is not just wearing a costume — he is wearing a legacy.

"KAYAW"
THE PHILIPPINE HEADHUNTER
featuring THE PHILIPPINE WILD BOAR

Before a Kalinga adolescent can be considered as an adult in his tribe, he must participate in a successful headhunt.

Austronesian people which includes KALINGA and IGOROT Tribes settle their conflicts through a brutal headhunt.

Their culture treats the head of an enemy as a trophy which earns them prestige and honor.

THE PHILIPPINE WILD BOAR
The Philippine warty pig (Sus philippensis ) is one of four known species in the pig genus (Sus ) endemic to the Philippines. It has multiple native common names, but it is most widely known as baboy damo ("bush pig") in Tagalog.

Walo

MUPH CALOOCAN NATIONAL COSTUME

From the rich tapestry of Filipino myth emerges Walo—walong ulo, sanlibong mata. Born of ancient whispers and ancestral warnings, Walo is the guardian of truth and consequences. Each head echoes the voices of our elders; each eye sees through deceit, darkness, and denial. In a world that forgets its roots, Walo remembers. Not to bring fear—but to awaken memory, to protect what is sacred, and to remind us: walang lihim na hindi nabubunyag.

SANTELMO
MUPH MANILA

Santelmo (or Santilmo) say that it is the spirit of a man who has died near a river, lake, ocean, or during heavy rains. The lost soul appears as a ball of fire and some say it seeks revenge on those who may have done him wrong, while others claim the soul is seeking peace.

The Santelmo (St. Elmo’s Fire) is a creature of Philippine Mythology. The term santelmo is the shortened form of the Tagalog words “Apoy ni San Elmo ” (St. Elmo’s Fire). St. Elmo’s Fire has long served as an omen of heavenly intervention to sailors.

MUPH LILIW LAGUNA
NATIONAL COSTUME - MAYARI featuring APOLAKI

Mayari, the goddess of the moon in Tagalog
mythology, has a story that feels deeply personal
for anyone who's walked through pain and come
out stronger. She's not just a beautiful, radiant
deity but she's a symbol of quiet strength, grace,
and fierce resilience. Known as the goddess of
revolution, war, beauty, and the night, Mayari held
powerful influence over both celestial and human
realms. In the myth, she fought her own brother,
Apolaki, over who should rule the world after their
father, Bathala, passed away. She didn't back
down, even when the battle left her with one eye.
Instead of giving up, she chose to share power,
ruling the night with the moon's gentler glow,
proving that even when wounded, she remained
powerful. That dimmer light? It isn't weakness but
it's a different kind of strength, one born from
pain, compromise, and deep inner wisdom
