As we begin a new season, we’re taking you inside the studio of Sonia Dubois and the process behind her Lueur lamps — works born from her longstanding practice in linocut. For Sonia, the carved surface of linocut is a study in texture and relief. She discovered a way to translate these qualities into design by merging the language of linocut with light, allowing illumination to reveal and intensify the textures of the carved forms.
This dialogue between printmaking and light became the foundation of the Lueur series: sculptural lamps in which texture is not simply a surface, but an essential part of the experience. When illuminated, each piece comes alive through shadow, relief, and changing intensity.
A distinctive example of how an artistic practice can evolve into collectible design — retaining the intimacy of the handmade while becoming an object for the interior.
