Do creatives ever imagine what it would feel like to see their work on the runway?

To watch something that started as an idea, a sketch, a piece of fabric, or a thought in your head finally make its way into the spotlight?

Friday, September 25 was not just another day. It was an evening where fashion, creativity and style came together at An American in Paris at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square.

For a designer, there is something special about seeing your work leave the studio and take on a life of its own. The pieces are no longer hanging on a rack or waiting for their final fitting. They are moving, being seen, and being experienced in a completely different way.

We were glad to see YELÉSTITCHES take its place on the runway, with each look bringing its own character as the models made their way down the runway.

A reminder that every piece begins somewhere, and sometimes, the journey takes it all the way to the spotlight.

There are mornings when you want to look good, but you don’t want getting dressed to become a whole project.

The best outfits are the ones that make you feel put together without making you work too hard for it.

Something you can throw on, add your shoes and bag, and just go.

Because getting dressed should feel good, not stressful.

Have you ever loved the fabric, saved the picture, and then seen the finished outfit and thought… “Hmm, I don’t know”? 😂

It happens.

Sometimes you really do love the print. You just don’t love the way it was turned into a dress, skirt, top, or whatever you had in mind.

The shape, where the print sits, and the little details can change the whole feel of an outfit.

Have you ever needed an outfit for an event and thought, “I’ll just find something when I get there”?

That was the plan for this client.

She was looking for a green dress to wear to a wedding that Friday, so she reached out to YELÉ and came into the store the next morning to see what she could find.

Except… there was no green dress waiting for her.

There was green fabric, though. 😂

So YELÉ got to work.

By the next morning, there was a brand-new green dress waiting for her. One she never even asked us to make.

And when she saw it, her expression was:

“Oh my God, it’s so beautiful. You have an exact green dress that I need.”

Safe to say, we were just as happy that it worked out. 🤭

Would we recommend putting a dress together under this kind of time pressure? Absolutely not. 😂 It’s not great practice, and we’d always prefer to give a piece the time and attention it deserves.
