Almost every good decision I’ve made in my business felt scary at first.

There's a loud voice in my head that asks "are you sure about this?” many MANY times.

But once I make the decision, things get better. I create better systems, easier processes for clients and a business that feels more aligned with how I actually want to work.

And right now? I'm in the middle of the biggest change!

It's not anything I expected to do or planned for but now that I'm getting over the scaries about it, I'm really excited to share what's happening with you soon so stayed tune!

If you've got great legs (or cute socks) and want to show them off by adding a slit, let's do it!

This dress was a great candidate for a slit as there was already a seam at the ideal stopping point and just two layers to work with.

If you're considering adding a slit to a dress, make sure to go with a professional! Not everyone can (or wants) to do this work on dresses and there are different ways to do the work depending on the dress so you want to make sure you're on board with the finished look before making this change.

Those gorgeous buttons were all sewn on by me!

Originally the buttons stopped at the end of the zipper on this dress creating an obvious visual breakpoint the bride didn't love. With the help of the bridal store in getting the custom buttons ordered and my sewing skills, this bride got the dress of her dreams!

When I talk about alterations, I tend to group them into three categories: Classic, Custom, and Contour. These are terms I use to help explain the different types of changes that can be made to a gown.

What you might need (or want!) depends on your dress, your body and the comfort, fit or look you're hoping to achieve.

Just about anything can be possible with alterations—but whether it’s the right option for you and your dress is something we determine together.

Wondering how much bridal alterations cost? Let’s talk about what actually impacts the price.

I know this can be a big factor when deciding where to have your dress altered, so it’s helpful to understand what can impact cost before you even choose a gown.

Final pricing is influenced by several factors: dress details, construction, custom requests, and timeframe.

When you fill out my inquiry form, I send an estimated price range based on the information you share. Final pricing is confirmed at your first fitting once I see the dress in person and we finalize the exact alterations needed.



I try to build some wiggle room into estimates so there are no surprises later on. My goal is always to provide clear expectations and high-quality work. I don’t compete on being the lowest price—my pricing reflects the time, skill and care that goes into altering your gown well.

Working on Mikey’s dress was one of my favorites last year!

Mikey wanted her dress fitted to highlight her body and I truly love it when I get to contour a dress for that.

The best part of my work is when I take THE dream dress and make it YOUR dream dress!

Since I started Pin Works in 2017, there have been many highs & lows, lots of growth and plenty of change along the way....

Since I started Pin Works in 2017, there have been many highs & lows, lots of growth and plenty of change along the way.

As I reflect on my business, here’s what I love:
∞ Sewing! Gotta enjoy the backbone of it all. From routine tasks to complex engineering projects, I love being able to work with my hands and challenge my brain in sewing.

∞ The people! From first fitting to final pickup, I enjoy the people I am serving. I love hearing your stories and making connections, whether finding out you live down the street from me or we both love the same type of books, getting to know you is a delight.

∞ Transformations! When a bride goes from Meh about her dress to OMG I love this, that feels so good! Transformations aren’t always big and they’re not always about sewing, sometimes it’s about the emotions around your dress or body. Whatever it is, it’s a privilege to be part of the transformation process.

There’s so much more I love and enjoy about this work and I hope I get to share that with you when you come for alterations!

Kicking off prom dress alterations with this gorgeous hem & bustle!

This dress is also a great example of shortening a dress and keeping the horsehair braid so the hem stays structured.

When it comes to bustles on a prom dress my goals are to
- Get your dress train off the floor so you can dance and move all night
- Make the bustle operations as easy as possible so your friends, Mom, boyfriend, whomever can get the bustle connected without any issue

This year due to already being at capacity for March & April I probably won’t be seeing a lot of prom dresses but I’m so happy I got to work on this one especially as last year I missed seeing this client (again due to being at capacity when they had reached out).

Which is also a good reminder that if you need prom dress alterations, reaching out early next year is your best bet for getting on my schedule!
