My motivation for starting Thobe Sitti was a benevolent one, almost frivilous- to be able to share and marvel at each others beautiful thobes! As more people joined and I got into conversations regarding tatreez or the various types of tradional Palestinian embroidery, I felt comforted by our shared collective identity. I hadn't realized that I'd been yearning for this. A community warmed by our collective love, passion and pride alongside our grief. A place to commemorate and a place to grieve what could've been more accessible in a free Palestine.
For now the exchange of thobes and messages is all I can offer, but I hope Rabna will enable me to turn Thobe Sitti into so much more.
