This project was inspired by the main entrance to Fair Park ( just down the street from our home workshop!)

The Art Deco style was a refreshing break from the overly ornate American Victorian style and the predecessor to the Mid Century Modern style.

This style emphasized cleaner lines, symmetry and heavier graphic details rather than the petite scroll work of the past. It is the style that built our city. Dallas boomed in the Art Deco period despite the onset of the American Great Depression.

This set of Bachelor’s chests is a great example of the time period.

Unfortunately time had taken its toll on the finish and wood and it was not possible to restore them to their former glory.

We were able to pivot from our planned restoration and decided to refinish them in a simple color and let the lines of the chests speak for themselves.

We hope you love them! 💕
