What do you wear to a funeral when you don’t own a black suit?
It’s a question we’re asked more often than you’d think!
The good news is a dark navy suit is entirely appropriate. The tie is what carries the tone.
Here are three ways to get it right, each pictured with a navy suit and a crisp Eton Shirts shirt:
1. The solid charcoal-navy — dressy, dark, and sophisticated. Event-driven and reverent, it never takes away from the occasion.
2. The tonal navy stripe — quiet and versatile. This one travels from a boardroom to a wedding to a service without missing a step.
3: The navy neat with soft blue — the most versatile of the three, and a tie you’ll reach for across most business occasions long after.
A few principles hold no matter which you choose: keep it dark, keep it understated, and let the moment speak louder than the clothing. The goal is to honor, not to stand out.
At Ken’s, we always keep a variety of black and navy neckwear on hand because the right piece should be ready when life calls for it, not something you scramble to find. If you’re ever unsure, come see us. We’ll make sure you’re prepared with quiet confidence.
