Lauren Chamberlain is one of the best softball players in the world, and as good a role model as any kid of any gender could ask for. She decided to pose n**e for ESPN. First, if you think this is pornographic, get off my timeline. Second, here's why she did it: "I said yes for the girls around the world who might see the issue and see someone who looks like them -- someone who's thicker, bigger, not as jacked as the typical athlete -- and that could give them that boost to love their bodies. Any time I went against my body and didn't give it what it needed in an attempt to achieve a societal norm, I let myself down. Sometimes, in high school and early college when I was dealing with insecurities about my body, not eating was disrespectful to my body. Not giving it what it needs to perform in order to achieve a certain look. If we're being honest, it just became stupid at a certain point. You're after this unattainable look, this Instagram look, and it's not achievable. I still deal with that insecurity. How am I not shaped and curved like that Instagram model? But you know what? She can't hit a ball like me or move like me. She can't do what I can do.”

Make it. Write it. Create it. Do the thing that inspires YOU. Even if it’s something that no one else is doing, especially if no one else is doing it. Your ideas and words have value and power, but only when you put them positively into the world.

Withdrawn, confused, quiet, disturbed. These are all key words being used to describe the 18 year who committed the heinous acts in Uvalde. We wanted signs. Those are the signs. The amount of ways that kids are able to disengage with society are climbing by the day. They would rather watch other kids live life on a screen, then go live a life. A lot of adults can’t handle social media responsibly, so how do we expect kids to? Children do not need more false social interactions. They need more actual human connections that are meaningful and intentional.

My heart breaks for the tragedy continuing to unfold here in my home state. It’s not supposed to be like this. We were supposed to do better. We are supposed to give you a place to safely get an education, so that you can change the world. I’m sorry this is the world we are showing you exists. We should have done better and I’m sorry that this is what you are given. My heart is with Uvalde.

Three years. This little project began three years ago today. To say the road has been easy would be a complete lie. On the first year anniversary we were in a tornado, by the second we were in the middle of a pandemic and now on the third we are watching a war. It's often hard to remain hopeful. For three years I've been so hard on myself for this project not being further along, not being more successful. It's often hard to give yourself grace in these moments when you feel a purpose so deeply in your heart. You want others to care like you do. To see the world in a way that you desire to make such an impact. It's often unbearable to think that you aren't doing enough, or changing the world enough. It can feel hopeless and quite often I ask myself what's the point?

Today also marks the beginning of Women's History Month. I know every woman I admire in history probably has those moments. Every woman I know currently has them. So how do you make history? How do you change the narrative you're telling yourself? Full honesty I don't know. I do know that I'm in no way ready to give up, I believe great things are coming.

This month will be the first opportunity I have had to talk to a group of students in a classroom in two years. I am so thankful everyday I get to continue with this. Despite all the setbacks I know that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. As lonely as the journey sometimes is, I know it's worth it. So here is to another year of successes, setbacks, failures and hope. Can't wait to get started.

Even on the world's biggest stage, in the completions biggest moment it's okay to chose yourself. To chose your mental health. So proud of you Simone! Team USA congrats!

This girl survived sexual abuse, became an advocate for young girls being taken advantage of, opened her own gym for young girls training to be gymnasts to ensure their safety, and trained her entire life to become the greatest gymnast in the history of gymnastics.

She's so much more than the sport she has mastered.

So many times we look around at the world and constantly think how we wish it were different. We sit around and hope that it will magically just change. I am guilty of this. Trying to be the one to change it can be overwhelming. It can feel impossible and often not even worth it. The truth is change starts small. It's starts with ourselves. Taking accountability for your role in this world can allow you to change the world around you. The hope is that small change inspires large changes. It is not enough to simply exist and wish it were different. Become the thing you long for.

This is how you lift each other up. Helping someone reach their goals and potential in no way diminishes your accomplishments. We are all simply an extension of each other. If I have achieved something, that by sharing my story or offering you a hand, can make you reach your potential then that is an entirely different level of success. Opportunity doesn't come the same way to everyone. Neither does success. Be the one to walk through doors and open them. What a world it would be if we held the door for each other.
