This has got to be one of the most charming, cheerful and uplifting vintage Christmas hand embroidered pieces I have ever come across. Actually, it was my picker sister, Carol, who found it, but it was part of the weekend handoff between Cincinnati and Louisville. Coming soon to booth 501 in the Ohio Valley Antique Mall. But I need a little more time to love on it!😊

Maybe it’s all the signs indicating the Kentucky “Speedway” on this stretch of I-71 that gives drivers the idea they have a green light to travel at 100 mph. Because it seems like EVERY SINGLE TIME I drive toward Louisville, there’s an accident like this. Outside Owenton or near Carrollton or further west by La Grange; it’s always something. Today I only had to drive to the McDonald’s off the Carrollton exit to collect items my sister picked for me in SOIN. It’s normally a little over an hour’s drive, but today, closer to 2. And here’s a pro tip I can share with my friends who thrift and antique out this way: fill or charge up before you head out because you may be idling or creeping for hours!

Today’s feature: a couple of handcrafted items found on yesterday’s thrift excursion. The first is a 3D plastic canvas turkey worked up in acrylic yarn. The colors are a little garish, but little kids love seeing things like this on the cousin’s table at Thanksgiving. And while it’s not quite vintage, in another 5 years, it will be. Second, is a beautifully hand stitched and beaded Christmas Angel in eye straining petit point. Specialty flocked thread was used on her wings and fragile gold filament was used as accents. To say nothing of the precise beading. It’s an exquisite piece. Coming soon to Bucktrouts, booth 501, in the Ohio Valley Antique Mall.

I’ve always thought it would be fun to own luxury handbags, but then the price tags make me feel light-headed. So I’ve been content with a caution sign yellow fake Goyard from a rummage sale and a 30+ year old real Mulberry from a thrift store run by Florida Episcopalians. But then yesterday at a flea market I spotted a carousel display of plastic blow mold jack-o-lanterns turned into cross body bags by a creative artist named Lisa. So clever, so Halloween-y and so worth $20! Better than a Birkin!
