Salt can react with certain dyes in wool and other fabrics, leading to discoloration that looks alarming but is often treatable. Unlike typical stains, salt residue pulls moisture into fibers and continues affecting the fabric until it is properly neutralized.

Careful professional treatment is important to prevent fiber damage and color loss. In many cases, discoloration can be significantly improved and sometimes fully restored when addressed early.

Winter garments, especially wool coats and tailored pieces, deserve experienced handling.
