Happy Monday!

We’ve had some time to rest and review our guest’s fits. We have come to the conclusion that Toyin🦋 was the BEST DRESSED GUEST. Now this doesn’t change the fact that all of the girls came dressed to impress. However, we couldn’t get over this look especially her oversized trousers which are by Yeno Label 🏷! (Go to their page and have a look at the back and you’ll see why we love them!)

The Oyato girls love Shuga x Ice… and apparently they came ready!

This past weekend, we pulled up to ROOTS x OYATO African Designer Network with three flavors created exclusively for the moment. Two of which were created with Bukky with a personal story for each. All flavors were inspired by the women, colors, textures, and energy in the room.

🌽 Agege Gold Sundae — Bukky collaboration
Roasted sweet corn ice cream over a fried plantain bottom, finished with buttery Agege bread.

🌺 Petal to the Medal Sundae — Bukky collaboration
Rose-infused dragonfruit ice cream with tart hibiscus flowers folded in, topped with sweet gummy bears.

👗 The OYATO Collective
Guava ice cream with dragonfruit-dusted madeleine cookies and a sweet + spicy berry pepper jelly.

We came prepared for two days.

Y’all ate through it on DAY ONE. 😭😂

So naturally, we went back, made more and did it all over again for Day 2.

There’s something special about creating flavors that don’t just taste good, but belong to the room they’re being served in. This weekend was bold, beautiful, playful, deeply cultural and very, VERY sweet.

Thank you Blessing Odunayo African Designer Network for inviting Shuga x Ice into the world you created, and thank you to every Oyato girl who came to taste, came back for another, told a friend, or asked us, “wait… what is IN this?!” 🥹

I love the convenience of being able to shop online but if I’m being honest that in person shopping experience will always be unmatched for me.

Yes both online and in person shopping have their perks and downsides to them but something about using your 5 senses to interact with the clothes I plan to wear will always seem like the better option.

Come and get acquainted with these brands for yourself. It’ll be worth your while.
