With this month being the 6 year anniversary of LSF, and because I have nothing else to post (😬😆), I thought I’d do a little introduction/meet the maker for everyone!
It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these so bear with me, I may ramble 😅
Hi! I’m Caitlin, the creator, sewist, and imagination behind this cuddly brand 👋🏻 I’m 39 years old (40 this year 😭) and 6 years ago I kind of stumbled into plushie making after making a post in a Facebook group. I’ve always been artsy but ended up getting degrees in Biology and Women’s & Gender Studies instead. I don’t use my degrees in the traditional sense but if you follow me you’ll see how my education shapes how I move through this world and how I create.
You’ll most often see my biologist mind working through creating new species, their habitats, and the ecology of their planet. I have a very vivid imagination that is rooted in science despite being completely fantasy. LSF is often science fiction meets cozy cuddly plushies!
My Women’s Studies degree comes out in my staunch allyship to marginalized communities. Through my donations to nonprofits on behalf of LSF. You’ll see it in my inclusive language as I build stories, lives, and personalities for my creatures. I won’t just use she/he pronouns because that doesn’t represent the world I live in. We are all people and LSF is for everyone regardless of where you are now, who you were then, and who you are becoming.
Little Star Friends isn’t just a way to make money, this is my dream and my imagination made into reality. It is a community of wonderful people with similar values and a love for things cozy, plush, and whimsical. It’s my creative outlet, my heart, and my soul that I’m sending out into the world in hopes that it brings comfort and joy to those who need it.
Other things about me: I have 3 kids though you won’t see me mention them much online for various reasons. I have a bunch of pets, am an avid gardener, baker, reader, and cook as well as a collector of many hobbies.
