Satin sleeve cuffs alterations ✨

This beautiful top's sleeves were far too long for our client, so we were able to remove the cuffs and move them up for a more comfortable length.

This job was a bit more fiddly than usual as this shirt is made of a slowly satin, which is a pretty tricky fabric to sew with. Because satin is quite a "liquid" fabric in the way it behaves, it often doesn't want to sit where we want it to which means we have to really take our time and use some extra tools to get this alteration perfect.

We gave this top a steam before our client picked it up, and she was very happy with the result.

Replacing jeans zipper

This process is always more time consuming than people expect. There is a lot of stitching to unpick and restitch, plus you have about 6 pieces of fabric plus the zipper to unattached and reattach to make sure the zipper and fly all work and sit properly. We also need to use thick topstitching thread to ensure everything is strong, and sometimes we replace the interfacing on the fly if it's worn.

We always replace zippers with zippers to ensure they're good quality and will last a long time.

It's always worth repairing a garment rather than throwing it away, especially when the only issue is a busted zip. Bring it to us, and we'll be happy to make sure your jeans last!

Adding sleeves to a sleeveless dress

I loved this transformation. To be able to add sleeves to this dress, we had to create a strap that made the shape of an armhole to account for the shape of the sleeve. Once that was in, everything came together beautifully.

Our client absolutely loved the sleeves addition to her already lovely dress and she looked beautiful in it too.

Mending a moth hole in a Tweed jacket

I love doing restorations. This tweed jacket had about 13 moth holes, this being one the biggest. I was able to take some yarn from the seam allowances inside the jacket and weave it over the holes to create an invisible mend. There's something so satisfying about restoring a garment to its former glory.
