As promised, I’m making after buying!
This spotty denim was mentioned on my stories last week. It really struck a chord with many of you. The rush of buying fabric. Planning amazing projects. Life. Forget about fabric. Start again. So I was determined to make somethingy almost immediately with this. Purchased during a fabulous day out with my friend and amazing stylist SoniaConfidenceinColour. In between workshops and sample making, I made the Vogue 2051 barrel leg pants. Next is the leopard fabric top to go with them. I adore this pattern. I love the shaping darts on the back, the shaping (to be fair, I’ve adjusted them a lot!). These are my fourth pair.

Style wise, I’ve cut this Karen Millen dress to a more useful blouse (the rest of it will be made into a skirt at some point). Gold shoes from M&S a few years ago. Bag is the Audrey sample from my new French Couture bag course - launching proper next week! And of course, Gucci glasses for the bling!

We’re making this trousers in July and Aug - July sold out, one space in August.

Summer is here! And here is my sample of the Carnation Blouse (Fabric Godmother) which is one of the sewalongs for June's theme which is Summer Blouse.

The fabric was sourced by my mother, and I had fun pattern matching and pattern placing. It was an absolute joy to sew. This blouse can be made without the ruffles and with a long sleeve and cuff. Second sample coming this week too.

The day course starts next Thursday 4 June (9:00 - 12:30pm) and the evening course starts Wednesday 17 June (6.00 - 8.30pm).

Places have gone already on this course, so do book on if you fancy making the beautiful blouse.

Our summer blouse series starts in two weeks - you can make ANY summer blouse, but the sewalongs this time are pretty special.

The first sew along is the quilted twin set. This set was made two years ago and I constantly get asked how I made it. Now's your chance to find out! We start with making the simple shell top as seen in pic 2. The pattern used for the jacket/blouse is the New Look 6434. The bodice parts are simply quilted. We add a gently puffed sleeve and an elasticated cuff (note it can be a plain sleeve and open ended cuff). The garment is finished by bias binding and patch pockets.

Our second option is the Fabric Godmother carnation blouse - a gorgeous garment that would be perfect for summer!

Trousers Courses over the summer...

Our popular two day trouser course is SOLD OUT in July, but we have spaces on the August course (22 & 23 Aug). If you'd like to join us in the studio to make a pair of trousers to fit you, please book yourself onto our course.

First, you make a toile (practice garment) out of scrap fabric. This is to test the waist, hip and seat measurements. Once we're happy with the fit, we go ahead and make any adjustments to the pattern and go ahead with cutting the fabric. To finish day one, we complete the welt pocket (first picture!). These are fabulous to make and can adorn any garment.

Day 2 has us making fly front zips, front pockets then testing the fit once more with the side seams. Once we're happy, we press, overlock and complete the inside leg seams. The waistband is fitted, then hem. We finish with a good press.

I was so engrossed with everyone’s work (and chatting!) that I’ve forgotten to take photos!! So instead, I’m sharing some progress photos from last weeks summer dress weekly series. The evening course is starting this week and has unfortunately sold out.
