“What can art do that nature cannot?”

It is one of the questions that has guided Takesada Matsutani for more than sixty years. Born in 1937 in Osaka, Matsutani is among the last surviving members of the Gutai movement, the radical post-war Japanese collective that redefined the possibilities of art. From his early vinyl-glue reliefs to the monumental graphite works that have become his signature, his practice has been guided by an unwavering commitment to invention. In this conversation Matsutani reflects on childhood memories of wartime Japan, the spirit of Gutai, the influence of shadow and silence, the search for originality, and the passage of time.

What is most beautiful to you?

Humanity.
Despite the moments of gloom that we are reminded about daily, those are balanced with moments of sheer unpredictable gloriousness.

What are the things worth fighting for in life?

Positive change is the thing that I think is most worth fighting for in life, and that might be a positive change in a macro situation. Change in an individual. Because the nature of life is that nothing remains the same and it’s a state of flow. I think fighting for a change that’s positive allows us to participate in that flow with direction and purpose.

Celebrate World Biodiversity Day

From the vast grasslands of Mongolia to the craftsmanship of Japan, our collections honour the beauty of exceptional natural fibres and the landscapes from which they originate.

Choose natural. Feel natural.

Did you know?

Mongolia’s grasslands span 1.2 million km² - more than twice the size of France.

Within just 1 m² of meadow, up to 27 plant species can thrive side by side.

The steppe is also home to 138 mammal species and 472 bird species.

This remarkable biodiversity is where our cashmere begins.

Meet: IMURA Shirt
Tailoring reimagined through knit and structure.

The IMURA Shirt is our cashmere interpretation of the classic tuxedo shirt, an architectural piece that combines softness, structure, and technical know-how.

Crafted using a hybrid half-knit, half-weave construction, it merges the comfort of knitwear with the precision of tailoring. The fabric stretches where movement is needed while maintaining structure where it matters most.

Tailoring details include a tuxedo-inspired back yoke and flat-felled seams for durability and a clean interior finish.

It is completed with 100% corozo buttons, made from the natural tagua nut, valued for their durability, texture, and sustainable origin.

The result is a versatile piece that carries understated elegance for evening wear, while remaining an elevated everyday layer with ease and presence.
