Being no stranger to music production and DJ’ing, Zenoko also known as artist ‘Zen’ was known for producing and releasing within the genre of Drum’n’Bass with countless releases on vinyl and digital.

Minefield” was one of my earlier tracks as Zen, released on Formation Records as part of the Formation 100 project. I was still developing my sound at the time, but a lot of the things I liked about D&B were already there — heavy drums, simple ideas and plenty of weight.

Formation was such a huge label in the scene, so getting a track onto their 100th release was a big milestone for me at that stage. Going back through these older tunes now is a reminder of where my sound started and how much D&B has changed since.

Zen – Rhubarb N Custard marked an important moment in Zen's early drum & bass journey. With its rolling grooves, memorable bassline and unmistakable old-school energy, the track helped put his name on the map and earned recognition across the UK drum & bass scene.

Supported by drum & bass heavyweights including Andy C, DJ Hype, Grooverider and Crissy Criss, the release established Zen as a producer to watch during the golden era of the early 2000s D&B, showcasing the distinctive style that would define many of his future productions.
